Mark Newhall served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 30 years from 1986 to 2016.   He served in the Infantry for 15 years as both enlisted man and as an officer.  He transferred to the Quartermaster Corps and became a multi-functional logistician. Mark completed his career as the Deputy United States Property & Fiscal Officer for the Iowa National Guard. Mark was deployed to Kuwait in 2000-2001 where he served as the Task Force Executive Office and again in 2010-2011 to Afghanistan where he served as the Executive Officer for the 2/34^th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.  Mark commanded at the platoon, company and battalion levels and served as a primary staff office at the battalion, brigade and state level. 

Mark joined the VFW in May 2018 as an At Large Life Member before joining Post 9668 later that fall.  He is currently serving as a Post Trustee since 2020. Mark serves on the Community Activities, Community Action Report and Safety committees.
