1. Are you a VFW Member? 2. Do you have a motorcycle license? 3.Do you have $40 for a Life Membership (that includes your back-patch)? If so then you are eligible to join the Iowa VFW Riders! If you are not a VFW or Auxiliary member but still meet criteria 2 and 3, then you can join the Iowa VFW Riders Support Group!

4th of JULY PARADE

VFW Post 9668 Urbandale/Johnston has been a regular participant in the Urbandale 4th of July Parade for many years. In 2017 we not only had our Auxiliary join us, but so did our family members and helped hand out bags of candy along the parade route.

Buddy Poppies

VFW Post 9668 Urbandale/Johnston, disturbs the VFW memorial flower Buddy Poppy 2 times a year. During Memorial Day weekend at stores in Urbandale, Johnston and Sam's Club in Windsor Heights and on Memorial Day at the Iowa Gold Star Museum on Camp Dodge, during their Memorial Day activities. We also are at the same stores the first weekend in November for Veterans Day.

Veteran Outreach

Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.

If you live in Urbandale, Johnston, Grimes and Windsor Heights, come check out VFW Post, 9668. We meet at 7 P.M. (1900 hours), on the first Monday of the month, at 3601 Beaver Avenue, Des Moines.

Our Post meets the first Monday at the American Legion Hall, 6805 Douglas Avenue, Urbandale, Iowa, at 7:00 P.M. (1900 Hours). V.F.W. Post 9668 Urbandale/Johnston, was founded on October 18, 1989 though the organizing efforts of Frank Larick in Urbandale, IA and 55 of his Veteran friends.
